The Stadium Sprint: Eleven days of running. One chair that was always right.: 4

THE STADIUM SPRINTBook Four of The Crackerjack ChroniclesNone of this happened. There is no union. There are no cease-and-desist letters from my left knee. Nobody named Gerald lives in my leg. What there is: a forty-five-year-old Canadian who was registered - not asked, registered - for eleven mornings at a stadium by Mi Amor, who has strategic intelligence and a laptop. He was given eleven minutes of notice. Eleven minutes is not enough to plot a real escape. What follows is a labour dispute conducted entirely inside one man's leg: a knee that files grievances, a hamstring that resigns on day eleven, a trainer-hunter working a spreadsheet from a bench, an iguana holding the porch railing, and the slow, humiliating discovery that the rocking chair had been right the entire time. The stadium was never the finish line. The porch was.Eleven days of running. One chair that was always right.Book Four of five short comic novels. Each reads on its own; together they run in order.
