the structure of music industry & on demand streaming: in light growing importance A critical analysis

This paper aims to describe how technological change and the business model of on-demand music streaming are affecting the structures of the music industry. The value creation process of the music industry is a useful analytical tool for this project, as it can be used to examine all relevant players and their significance, as well as their interactions with one another. By analysing the relevant driving forces behind ODM streaming, an assessment of their influence on the industry structure will be developed. The selection of driving forces is based on two fundamental concepts of change in sectoral systems. These are the ability of the players to anticipate and adapt, and the technological depth of ODM streaming. The central research objective is to determine whether and/or to what extent ODM streaming affects the individual actors in the value creation process and how their interaction with each other and thus the industry structure is changing.
