“Eternally touched by flames, we can never undo our ashes but we, as trauma survivors, will rise above all fires and hold onto our precious untouchable essence” This collection of poetry introduces various topics that all surround the same imagery for all survivors of (parental) trauma: the phoenix. As a symbol of hope and rebirth, the cycle of our resilience continues and never fully stops. These poems represent the author’s personal experiences and tell the tale of a child that had to escape a house that was on fire and the tale of an adult that is still feeling the burns of that house, even when they have already fled from it. This collection of poetry is intended to start a dialogue of recognition of our beings as phoenixes, to support and validate each other in our own journeys as trauma survivors. To spread more hope, because there is still time to spread your wings and find yourself again.
