The Watcher Series: Book 1 of Dust: Some Things Should Never Be Forgotten

The stars are disappearing.Across a dying world buried beneath white dust, a solitary traveler walks north along roads he remembers but can no longer name. He carries a strange staff, a black book he cannot open, and memories that have begun to fail him. They call him the Watcher. When he reaches Cinder Wells, he finds a town of two hundred and fourteen people surviving by a simple rule: if your name is on the roll, you receive water. If your name is not there, you do not drink. Then people begin to disappear. The greater horror is not that they are gone. It is that everyone left behind begins to forget they ever existed. The Watcher has seen this before. He has spent years following the aftermath of what he calls the unwriting, arriving at abandoned homes, broken communities, and places where someone should have been remembered. This time, he arrives before it is finished. To save Cinder Wells, he must uncover what is erasing people from the world, confront the rules a desperate town has mistaken for justice, and face a question he has avoided for longer than anyone living can remember: What if he knows more about the destruction of this world than he is willing to admit? The Watcher of Dust is the first novel in The Watcher Series, an atmospheric dark fantasy of forgotten kingdoms, ancient mysteries, memory, mercy, and a world slowly being erased.
