Bol 'The Waters of Avalon' is part 1 of a story told in two parts under the broader title of 'The Creeping Tide'. Whilst the narrative is located mainly in England's Somerset Levels, its themes are both local and global, personal and universal and draw upon today's knowledge of the ways in which humanity is interacting with Planet Earth. After a brief glimpse into the past, the story begins when Dan Holroyd finds himself adrift in a world transformed by relentless floods and struggling with extremes of heat. Dan's inner life, meanwhile, comes steadily to mirror the ever-changing currents and fires of the world around him.The narrative weaves through his relationships with his wife Sue, and with Anne, talented but unstable musician and wife of the sinister industrialist, George Moresby. Frustrated by the contradictions of a society that is failing to grapple constructively with its share of the world's problems, Dan is also constantly distracted by the regrets, memories and conflicts of loyalty that beset his personal life. Against this background, his former partner and present professional colleague, Amanda, does what she can to help him but then finds herself becoming entangled in issues of her own. ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿As the physical landscape succumbs to irreversibly rising waters , Dan is forced to confront the emotional tides within, questioning what it means to find stability and purpose when the very foundations of his world are shifting. This is a story of resilience, the enduring power of human bonds , and the constant struggle to stay afloat in a changing world.
