The Weather Murders

Weather has learned how to kill-and how to make murder look like an accident.Atmospheric chemist Palen Ro dies inside a sealed gondola above Venus, his lungs filled with glass crystals from a storm that should have remained outside. On Saturn, forecaster Lio Varek is killed by impossible lightning beneath a clear sky.The deaths appear unrelated. Private investigator Tex Calder sees the same contradiction behind both. With scientific specialist Mira Vale, the unusual witness-person Sera, and Bix-a remarkable dog whose translation collar offers limited clues from his extraordinary senses-Tex follows the evidence from magnificent Venusian zeppelins into the violent storm layers of Saturn.Someone has built a hidden system that does more than predict disasters. It can influence events, select acceptable victims, and make its own forecasts appear true. Now the system has chosen Tex as its next public demonstration. To survive, Tex and his companions must expose the human decisions concealed inside the machinery-before the weather testifies against them again. The Weather Murders is Book Two of the Tex Calder future-noir mystery series and can be read as a standalone novel.
