The WikiBlueprint Guide to Successful Wikipedia Engagement: A Handbook for Corporate Professionals

The first thing the world reads about your company is a page you cannot edit.A Wikipedia article sits above your website in search, feeds the answer boxes and AI assistants your customers ask first, and shapes how journalists, investors, and job candidates see you. It is written by volunteers, governed by strict rules, and entirely outside your control. Getting it wrong is easy, and the record of getting it wrong is permanent. The WikiBlueprint Guide to Successful Wikipedia Engagement shows corporate communicators, public affairs leaders, and the executives who advise them how to engage the way the community itself considers best practice: disclose your role, propose changes backed by independent sources, and let volunteer editors carry them into the article. The advice is practical, strategic, and effective, because it is built on how Wikipedia actually works.Inside, you will learn how to: - Work with the principles that decide what stays and what goes- Follow a step-by-step protocol for proposing changes that volunteer editors accept- Handle criticism, controversy, and declined requests- Sort changes by risk: what passes, what draws scrutiny, and what fails- Judge honestly whether your company, or you, qualifies for an article at all- Choose ethical help and spot the operators who promise too muchYou will also find answers to the fifteen questions clients ask most, a working glossary of Wikipedia's editorial vocabulary, and candid chapters on notability that can save you from an expensive mistake.WikiBlueprint is an ethical Wikipedia consulting practice founded by Jake Orlowitz, a nineteen-year Wikipedia editor and administrator and founder of The Wikipedia Library at the Wikimedia Foundation. Learn from world-class Wikipedia consultants who have been there and seen it all before.Read it once for orientation. Return to it as a reference.
