the Woman Across Room

Dr. Alice Renner has spent twenty years teaching people how to spot a lie.She never once suspected the woman sitting in her own waiting room would be the most skilled liar she'd ever meet.Meg Doherty arrives for grief therapy carrying exactly the kind of quiet devastation Alice has treated a thousand times before: a fiancé lost in an accident, a mind still reaching for the loss. But session after session, Meg begins describing details she has no possible way of knowing. The exact chip in Alice's own kitchen teapot. The precise line of a scar on her husband's hand. A road under construction that Alice's own husband, it turns out, built.By the time Alice understands what's actually happening in that small room with the amber lamp, it may already be too late - for her marriage, for her family, and for a truth about herself she has spent three years not even knowing she was missing.THE WOMAN ACROSS THE ROOM is a slow-burn, emotionally devastating psychological thriller about the stories we tell ourselves to survive, marriages built on merciful silences, and the particular, terrifying violence of finally, fully knowing yourself. For readers of Alex Michaelides, Freida McFadden, and Paula Hawkins - a novel that will make you question every locked door in your own life.
