In this work, we present one of the practical applications of programmable logic controllers, represented in the GM6500 (Gaz Meters 6500) control system. This is a piece of equipment used to calibrate and verify turbine gas meters with a max flow rate of up to 6500 m3/h, using an S7-200 PLC to automate this process and ensure greater measurement reliability. We present a detailed study of this control system, including its operating principle, its electrical and pneumatic components, and practical examples of the calibration process managed by this PLC. Our work has highlighted the various problems encountered during operation of the system in question, and the appropriate solutions proposed to optimize this control system and remedy all these problems.
