Account by Bethany Veney about her life as a slave in Virginia during the years before the American Civil War and eventual freedom. A memoir written by the stepdaughter of Robert Louis Stevenson about the family life of the beloved Scottish novelist. Wartime experiences of Samuel Richards as a soldier during the Revolutionary War and personal letters from Coningsby Dawson to his family during World War I are presented complete and uncut from the original published versions. Included in this edition also are digitally restored photographs that have rarely been published as well as additional biographical material.
