Time To Die

Ruim een jaar na de release van het debuutalbum Visiter brengt The Dodos het album Time To Die uit. Dit derde album van het duo uit San Francisco is geproduceerd door Phil Ek, bekend van zijn werk met o.a. Fleet Foxes en The Shins. De sterk percussieve sound van The Dodos is nog steeds gecentreerd rond Logan Kroeber en Meric Long, maar Time To Die betekent ook de introductie van de 21-jarige vibrafonist Keaton Snyder, die inmiddels een vast onderdeel van The Dodos uitmaakt. "After Visiter, we had a lot of options for which direction to go," vertelt Long, "But I knew we wanted to make a rock record. Being an acoustic band—primarily, at least—sort of works against this idea, but Phil's production showcased that side of our band. The vibraphone is pretty crazy and loud and if you put it through some effects, you can make it sound like a guitar or synthesizer. It still has that element of something you're hitting, though, which is central to how Logan and I play our instruments."
