Bol In this spirited Greek-Italian comedy, married couple Tom and Sophia's anniversary is thrown into chaos by a misplaced gift and a suspicious mother-in-law. When Sophia's mother Bessie notices that one of three jewelry boxes Tom had the night before has vanished, she's convinced he's cheating. She enlists her cousin Manolis, a retired Greek cop hungry for excitement, to uncover the "other woman." The missing box, however, belongs to Tia-a kind customer who helped Tom pick out Sophia's gift. When Tom meets Tia to return the ring, her joyful gratitude and affectionate kisses catch the attention of two Italian mob goons at the bar. Recognizing Tia as the fiancée of their boss's nephew, Tony, they leap to the wrong conclusion and rush to inform their boss, the infamous Uncle Lou. As Bessie and Manolis tail Tom to Tia and Tony's engagement party-unaware Uncle Lou's men are doing the same-the situation spirals. When the goons break into Tom's car, Manolis eagerly calls the police, dramatically declaring himself a "Greek Detective." Inside the party, Tom is briefly mistaken for Italian and embraced by the crowd with the phrase "Una fatsa, una ratsa"-same face, same race. But when Uncle Lou corners Tom, expecting a scandal, Sophia and Tia arrive just in time to clear it all up. In the rain-soaked finale, Bessie misidentifies Sophia under Tom's umbrella and slips in dramatic fashion. As Manolis declares the case closed, Bessie grumbles, "Not for me, cousin."
