Bol This literature review begins by introducing the basic concepts of tolerance and prejudice; the term prejudice is used as a synonym for intolerance. It then establishes the connection between intolerant, racist actions in society and the fundamental values and principles of social work. From this, the responsibility of social work in general and SKA in particular for the problem described is derived. Intolerant, racist behaviour is a product of social practice and structure. Tolerance is one of three instrumental fundamental values in Husi's modal structuration theory. The realisation of these values ultimately leads to greater participation for all. Promoting participation leads to a decline in intolerance and racism in a society and, at the same time, to an increase in tolerance. In this paper, modal structuration theory forms the basic structural framework for the explanatory approaches to racist behaviour in a social context and for the targeted interventions by SKA professionals listed at the end.
