Towards a Network of African Journalists and Citizens on Migration: Strengthening Professional Skills Citizen Participation Migration Issues

The book "Towards a Network of African Journalists and Citizens Specialized in Migration" aims to promote balanced, rigorous, and professional information on migration in West Africa. Implemented in seven ECOWAS countries, with focal points in the Maghreb and Europe, the project strengthened the capacities of more than 100 journalists through training in investigation, public debates, and testimonies. It led to the production of more than 400 articles and broadcasts aired in over 100 media outlets, 92 thematic dossiers, 45 radio debates, 5 television debates, and 141 testimonies in local languages. The initiative fostered public debate, valued the voices of migrants, particularly women and youth, and contributed to deconstructing stereotypes. Despite certain limitations related to partners and editorial constraints, the project won three national awards and led to the creation of a sustainable network of journalists committed to migration issues.
