Towards a New Economic Structure: Algeria in the Era of Technological Diffusion

This book deals with the structural transformation of the Algerian economy and the need to diversify its growth drivers beyond hydrocarbons. It attempts to explain the gap in per capita income between Algeria and comparator countries (developed and emerging) through structural transformation indicators. To make up for this, the relationship between technological diffusion and per capita GDP growth was analyzed. The empirical results of our study indicate that technological diffusion has a positive effect on long-term economic growth in Algeria. The results highlight the importance of reducing short-term structural disparities while promoting technological diffusion to stimulate long-term economic growth in Algeria. The book uses an empirical approach to assess the economic levers capable of strengthening the country's competitiveness, and proposes strategic orientations for building a more diversified, modern and sustainable economy.
