Transforming Cameroon's Global Competitiveness: Japan-Inspired Strategies for Diplomacy, Financial Innovation, and Digital Growth, examines how Cameroon can elevate its international standing by selectively adapting lessons from Japan's coordinated development model. Despite its abundant natural resources, strategic geography, and youthful population, Cameroon continues to rank low on key global performance indicators, including 134th of 141 countries on the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Index (2019) and 149th of 190 on the World Bank's Doing Business 2020 report, underscoring persistent structural constraints. Drawing on comparative development literature, case studies, and policy analyses, the article identifies parallels between Japan's post-war and Heisei-era development trajectories and Cameroon's current aspirations. It proposes actionable strategies across three pillars: (1) diplomacy as an engine of economic partnerships, inspired by Japan's keizai gaik¿ tradition and the institutional experience of MITI/METI and JICA; (2) financial-system modernization shaped by Japan's postal savings reforms and emerging FinTech ecosystem; and (3) IT-driven transformation.
