Translation in Taiwanese Television News: A study

This book aims to bridge the gap between global news production and translation practices by focusing on television news translation. It seeks to explain how news translators reproduce stories within the newsroom context. The authors adopt a case study approach, examining a foreign news desk at a television network in Taiwan and analyzing its organizational practices. The findings suggest that news translation should be regarded as a broader form of translation, despite its differences from general translation. In television newsrooms, translators primarily consider three key factors: footage, the length of the news item, and spoken language-elements that clearly distinguish news translation from other forms of translation.
