Originally titled 'Treatise on Poisons and Protection Against Lethal Drugs', this is an unpublished work in Spanish by the great medieval philosopher and physician Maimonides, prefaced by the teacher and philologist Darío Fernández Ruiz. This is the first complete translation into Spanish of one of the most unique medical texts of the 12th century, in which Maimonides -- Saladin's physician -- combines science, ethics, and philosophy in a practical, home-based compendium on remedies against poisons. A classic in the history of medicine and medieval rationalist thought, recovered in a clear, rigorous, and accessible edition. This first complete version in Spanish collates Arabic, Hebrew, and Latin sources in a manner that is both readable and rigorous, with explanatory notes and historical contextualization. This treatise combines medical knowledge, ethical reflection, and philosophical wisdom and represents a first-rate rescue of an essential piece of medieval Sephardic and Arabic intellectual heritage.
