Everyone experiences crises. Every major change in life needs to be processed, whether it be a move, a wedding or the loss of a loved one. Those who are unable to find their bearings again after a crisis and adapt to the new situation often react with stress-related disorders. Refugees usually come to us from crisis-hit areas and are traumatised by their experiences. This is rarely taken into account in the asylum process, meaning that those affected and their support workers are often overwhelmed. Working with refugees is very diverse. There are a wide variety of fields in which one can be active. There are overarching tasks such as the social and political participation of foreigners, as well as general intercultural work and integrative/inclusive education.
