"The Trekking Atlas of the World" will be the definitive guide to the world's best long-distance hikes, providing vivid portraits of some of the world's most spectacular journeys, ranging from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in Wales to the Peru's renowned Inca Trail. Written by experienced outdoor writers with first-hand knowledge of the routes and a passionate love of trekking, the book profiles 54 treks, arranged by continent, a trek being defined as no less than 60km (40 miles) in length or three days of walking in duration. Each trek will feature a detailed route map and most will also feature a schematic elevation diagram. Essential information (when to go, start/finish, duration, maximum altitude, technical considerations, equipment, trekking style and permits/restrictions) is provided in an Appendix.
