The Epistle to the Romans and the Gospel of John for generations have been favorite and theologically foundational biblical writings among the devout. Unfortunately, Romans, like John, is quoted a lot more than well understood. Misinterpretation is the mother of misapplication in the business of living out our faith. One other problem in both cases is that some scholarly commentaries are too technical and non-pastoral to enlighten and edify, whereas others are frankly too devotional, too sketchy, and too superficial to really explain the text. This exposition attempts to strike a balance and bring the Sunday meaning forward into Monday morning significance. The goal is that serious students will rediscover the profound message of the ancient Roman church resounding with refreshing force and clarity in a day where pious froth is the norm.Jim Andrews holds a BA in Journalism from West Virginia Tech, an Th.M in New Testament Literature and Exegesis from Dallas Theological Seminary, and an M.A in Classics from the University of Colorado. He has spent 60 years total in the ministry (21 teaching in Bible college and seminary, respectively).
