Following his Russian naval service, Asa (Askhat Kuchinchirekov) returns to the countryside where his sister and her husband reside, in the hope of becoming a shepherd like his brother-in-law. However, in order for him to fulfill his ambition, he must first win the hand of Tulpan, one of the few eligible women in the area.Unfortunately, Tulpan confesses that she is simply not attracted to Asa and she finds his big ears especially unappealing. A determined Asa refuses to be discouraged and sets about trying to prove to Tulpan that he would make a worthy herder and husband.
