The subject of this thesis is the portrayal and perception of love within the German-Turkish community. The thesis is divided into two main sections. The first section contains general information about the lives of Turks in Germany. This description is preceded by an overview of migration to Germany. This theoretical section goes on to explain the concepts of interculturality, intercultural literature and intercultural film. This part of the thesis is therefore based primarily on the literature reviewed. The other part of the thesis comprises an analysis of the literary work and the film from the perspective of the characteristics of the main characters and their understanding of the concept of 'love'. The aim of the thesis is to depict interculturality in the context of the most fundamental human emotion, namely love.
