Twenty Plus Two

Tom Alder searches for missing heirs. In effect, he's an investigator. His current case begins with the murder of Julia Joliet, a movie fan secretary. This takes him to Leroy Dane, a handsome actor and total heel, and one of the dead woman's clients. And in a roundabout way, the case takes him to New York City and back to one of the great mysteries of the 20th century, the disappearance of heiress Doris Delaney. On the plane to New York Alder meets a young beauty named Nikki and is immediately attracted to her. They separate in Chicago, but she begins to haunt him. Meanwhile, he continues to dig into the story of Doris Delaney, a young girl who simply vanished from the face of the earth. Was she kidnapped? Murdered? Did she simply run away? No one has a clue. Now, days later, it appears that Nikki has also disappeared-and Alder is being followed by a mysterious ex-con who is looking for his long-lost brother. Black Gat #87
