Once in the field, the reader will come to understand what the Border Patrol does and how it accomplishes its mission.Throughout the book, Mike uses short stories to reveal aspects of the job that can't be taught, explained, or even made up. These stories highlight real incidents from his twenty-year career that were funny, sad, heartbreaking, and deeply moving. At best, most of them could be described by a common law enforcement saying, "Stuff happens!" or, in this case, "Stuff you just can't make up."
