Ubuntu and Human Rights in Mozambique: An African Philosophy of Dignity, Recognition, Social Reintegration

This work analyzes the relationship between Ubuntu and human rights in the Mozambican context, offering a philosophical reflection on human dignity, social recognition, and community reintegration. Drawing on African epistemologies, the study discusses the limitations of Eurocentric interpretations of human rights and advocates for Ubuntu as an African ethical foundation based on human interdependence, solidarity, and community responsibility. The research addresses issues related to legal pluralism, social exclusion, restorative justice, the ethics of care, and the reintegration of vulnerable groups in Mozambique. The book also analyzes the historical challenges of human rights from the colonial period to the present day, emphasizing the impacts of social inequalities, armed conflicts, and institutional weaknesses. It concludes that Ubuntu offers important contributions to the construction of a Mozambican human rights praxis centered on the humanization of social relations, community justice, and the reconstruction of human dignity.
