In the coming years, the majority of political conflicts and the great crossroads of our time will revolve around the climate crisis. For this reason, "environmentalism" cannot simply be a label for a specific set of concerns, a green hue in the rainbow of emancipation, or a small circle of the already converted. Environmentalism has the power to articulate an emancipatory horizon and forge new frameworks for a shared world. In this essay, Antonio Gómez Villar outlines a set of strategic orientations for shaping an environmentalism of the 99% to counter the reactionary "fossil-fuel international." He proposes building an environmentalist historic bloc with hegemonic aspirations -- an open, porous, broad, and pluralistic political space aimed at securing the conditions for the reproduction of life and the very foundation of our survival.
