Bol The inmates call the prison 'the shed and the cellar', dividing the icy surface and the labyrinthine underground mine complex. The prison has become a nexus where the lines between faith, myth, and dreams have been distorted for the inmates. This obfuscation is the design of the Coda of Unification, a document defanging the global faiths and bringing the mask of peace to the United Terran Coalition, now aligned in humanness. Yet, the cellar is an inhuman place. It is filled with the detritus of the global schism; rebels, religious dissidents, creators of beings deemed abomination, and those who never leave the darkness of the mine. The prison's warden, whose delusions have strayed beyond the pale, manifests constant threat and obstruction. How many souls have been lost into his cellar? What must be done for inhuman beings to become in darkness? These are questions he seeks to answer. Amid the chaos, a fallen god called the Neta-Teej still hears the prayers of followers. Time spent in the cellar expands their inner visions. Are they truth or delusion? Caught in the midst of a power struggle, the Neta-Teej begins to seek the purpose of the mad warden's machinations, and ultimately the purpose of the cellar. Trustee 452A, fixated on protecting the Neta-Teej, awaits another descent into the mines. With only fragments of a past and an unfamiliar voice in her head, she is plagued by those who remember her past, on planets she cannot remember. She must measure her compulsions to protect the Neta-Teej against her own humanity, even as it is eroded by the hunger of the cellar.
