Under the Same Moon: A Journey of Spiritual Poetry

Under the Same Moon is a deeply reflective and spiritually rich collection of poems written during Lent 2024 by Sister Mary Joy Langdon BEM - a woman whose life has been shaped by service, faith, and compassion.Written each evening following long days of dedication to children, horses, and community life at the Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre, these poems grew out of silence, prayer, and contemplation. They follow the spiritual journey through Lent to Easter, but speak far beyond one season, addressing themes of creation, suffering, hope, social justice, compassion, forgiveness, and renewal.Sister Mary Joy's words are shaped by her lived experience: as Britain's first operational firewoman, as the founder of a charity supporting children with special educational needs, and as a member of a religious community. Her poems reflect a deep awareness of human struggle as well as divine presence - finding God not only in scripture and tradition, but in nature, stillness, and everyday acts of love. Each poem invites the reader into gentle reflection, encouraging stillness, gratitude, and awareness of God's creative and redeeming presence. Whether read as daily meditations, prayerful readings, or quiet reflections, these poems offer comfort, challenge, and reassurance for anyone seeking spiritual nourishment.Under the Same Moon reminds us that although our experiences differ, we share the same sky, the same fragile earth, and the same call to live with compassion and hope.
