Understanding Your Bible

This book explores ideas centered around biblical hermeneutics - or the interpretation of Scripture. A true understanding of a text goes beyond just reading (especially for the Bible) it must also include understanding, interpretation, and application. Through the readers lens we bring our own presumptions and expectations to a text which can profoundly shape our understanding and can often lead to a false interpretation of what the text is telling us. Over the centuries, irreparable harm has occurred to both people and the church by the incorrect interpretation of God's Word. Understanding Your Bible will challenge your preconceptions of Scripture, what you already believe and think you know about the Word of God, but it will also guide you to a wise and responsible way of approaching Scripture, gaining skills in interpreting biblical truths.
