On October 20, 1944, General Douglas MacArthur fulfilled his promise to return to the Philippines. The Sixth Army lands on Leyte, expecting a quick victory, but the unpredictable Japanese quickly respond by land and by sea. The Imperial Navy launches a complex offensive to destroy the invasion fleet, but the U.S. Navy stands in their way. Over several days, the largest naval battle the world has ever seen unfolds in four distinct operations in the seas around the Philippines.In Western Europe, Operation Market-Garden ended with a stalemate. The Allied armies are running low on supplies and the one port they desperately need is not secure. Now, a major operation is needed to clear the Germans from both sides of the Scheldt Estuary, allowing the Port of Antwerp to finally open. Members of the Science Team must cope with the harsh reality of dealing with the enemy as well as the logistical and political issues impacting the war effort.
