Bol Previously marginalized and relegated to the background because it was considered a degrading activity in urban areas, peri-urban agriculture is now seen as a safety valve for those excluded from the modern agricultural sector. With the growth of urban populations in Côte d'Ivoire, peri-urban agriculture is expanding and, as a result, exerting ever-increasing pressure on the use of resources (land) and the occupation of vacant public or private spaces on the outskirts of major Ivorian cities. In recent years, this form of agriculture has been practiced by a significant segment of the population-women of various backgrounds (indigenous, non-indigenous, and foreign) seeking a better life. Korhogo, a city located in northern Côte d'Ivoire, is no exception to this activity, which takes place year-round. Indeed, many vulnerable populations in Korhogo-particularly women-make their living from the production and trade of vegetables and protein crops. Their contribution to supplying local and even international markets is a key factor.
