She was later transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy as HMCS Columbia (I-49), as a Town class destroyer.Named for Jonathan Haraden, she was launched by Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, Newport News, Virginia, 4 July 1918; sponsored by Miss Mabel B. Stephens, great-niece of Captain Jonathan Haraden; and commissioned at Norfolk Navy Yard 7 June 1919, to Lieutenant Commander R. H. Booth in command.
