The lights didn't flicker this time. They reformatted. Lena noticed it the way she now noticed everything that wasn't allowed to be normal anymore--by the absence of transition. One moment, the room was what it had been: sealed safe house geometry, controlled lighting, predictable surveillance hum. The next-- it was still there. But wrong. Not visually at first. Structurally. Then---it updated.
