The Venezuelan Horned Frog or Sapo Cuaima (Ceratophrys calcarata) is a species of frog in the Leptodactylidae family. It is found in Colombia and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are dry savanna, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland, and intermittent freshwater marshes. It is threatened by habitat loss. Frogs are amphibians in the order Anura (meaning "tail-less", from Greek an-, without + oura, tail), formerly referred to as Salientia (Latin salere (salio), "to jump"). Most frogs are characterized by long hind legs, a short body, webbed digits (fingers or toes), protruding eyes and the absence of a tail.
