Bol This book investigates vertical integration in the Poultry Agroindustrial System, focusing on the Heavy Breeding Laying Chain in the southern region of the country. It analyzes how the complementarity between the theories of Transaction Costs (TCT), Measurement Costs (TCM) and the Resource-Based View (RBV) approach underpins strategic decisions on vertical integration, especially in the protection and exploitation of strategic resources. Based on qualitative and descriptive research, primary data was used, through interviews with managers of ten companies, and secondary data from sources such as ABPA and MAPA, covering the years 2019-2020. The results point to the predominance of vertical integration in phases such as feed, hatcheries and rearing, while hybrid forms, such as quasi-integration contracts, prevail in the matrix phase. The study concludes that the high specificity of assets and their difficult measurement justify vertical integration, but its viability depends on the resources available. The book contributes to broadening the theoretical and practical bases on governance in production chains, offering important inputs for researchers and managers in the agro-industrial sector.
