Vidkun Abraham Lauritz Jonssøn Quisling was a Norwegian army officer and politician. He worked with Fridtjof Nansen during the famine in the Soviet Union, and served as Minister of Defence in the Bondepartiet government 1931-1933. In 1933 he founded the nationalist party Nasjonal Samling, and during World War II, from 1942 to 1945, he served as Minister-President of the collaborationist Norwegian government, after being appointed by the German authorities.
