Voices from the Edge brings together two gripping dramas where tradition and desire collide. Lives are tested, and choices carry deep consequences. In Weevils in the Granary, Sikelo Village is rife with rumours of bloodsuckers. Every suspicious face is met with the villagers' unforgiving wrath until tragedy strikes when a daughter of the village - returning from the city to visit her kinsfolk - is burnt alive because her headsets are mistaken for pipes used in bloodsucking rituals. Meanwhile, Nyangu, a widow, undergoes the traditional cleansing rite of kulowakufa after the death of her son. She soon finds herself trapped in deeper turmoil when she falls pregnant by a man she does not know. At the same time, she rejects her in-laws' decision that she marry her late husband's younger brother, declaring, "His feet are too small for his brother's shoes." In A Love Triangle, the story revolves around two families whose children are on the verge of tying the knot. Jane, an ambitious young woman, dreams of ending her journey of life in the city. She turns down Jembe's hand in marriage and chooses Nkhalo, a young man who has just returned to the village in search of his father's missing canoe. But her dreams are shattered under bizarre circumstances. Nkhalo's heart then turns toward Maji, Jane's childhood friend. But does he succeed in leading her to the altar? Rich in African storytelling and deeply rooted in Malawi's cultural landscape, Voices from the Edge explores love, identity, betrayal, and the enduring weight of tradition.
