Wanne-Eickel Hauptbahnhof (usually translated from German as Wanne-Eickel Central Station, short form: Wanne-Eickel Hbf) is the Hauptbahnhof of the former city of Wanne-Eickel, now part of Herne in western Germany. The station grew out of the Pluto-Thies freight station, built on the 1856 on the Duisburg-Dortmund line section of the Cologne-Minden Railway Company's trunk line opened in 1847. In 1867 a new goods station was opened with the name of Wanne. In 1875 the station's name was changed to reflect the merger of several towns under the name of Wanne-Eickel.
