WHAT DO I NOW? READING COMPREHENSION

Reading comprehension texts often consist of a collection of short stories followed by a few questions designed to assess the reader's/student's understanding. WHAT DO I DO NOW? is unique in that it tells one continuous story. At the conclusion of many of the chapters, the student/reader gets to decide the direction they wish the story to follow. Some options allow for a 'happy ending, ' while others do not. However, regardless of the outcome(s), the reader always has the option of retracing their steps and continuing the story from where they left off. Each chapter is followed by a series of questions.- Key words evaluate the reader's ability to identify words that rhyme or do not rhyme, regardless of spelling discrepancies.- True or false questions assess the reader's understanding of the text.- A vocabulary exercise with twelve important key words or phrases requires the reader to match them with images presented.- Five key words or phrases are employed to test the reader's ability to match them to their opposite meaning.- Students/readers must match essential words or phrases with presented visuals.- A short poem (usually related to the text) is provided for the student to read and enjoy.- A cloze exercise to assess the reader's/student's understanding and proper use of conjunctions. >
