When the Curtain Falls

Some performances end when the curtain falls. Others continue for decades.Dr. Mara Arden has built a meaningful life in Lisbon as a psychodynamic therapist, far from the theater and the charismatic director who once controlled its stage. But when she discovers that Julian Cross, now a celebrated psychotherapist, will be the keynote speaker at a prestigious conference in her city, the past is no longer safely behind her.Mara begins searching for the truth. What starts with an obituary leads her through public records, professional complaints and the stories of women whose experiences disturbingly echo her own. Each discovery reveals the same carefully rehearsed pattern: charm, influence, blurred boundaries and denial.Julian may have changed professions. But perhaps he never changed the script. As an ethics investigation threatens the reputation he has spent decades building, Mara must decide whether to remain safely in the audience or step back onto the stage she once abandoned. Speaking out may cost her the peace she has worked so hard to create. Remaining silent may allow the performance to continue. When the Curtain Falls is a compelling psychological suspense novel about power, betrayal, professional misconduct and the courage required to reclaim one's voice.Book I of The Mara Arden Series.
