Where Roots Begin To Speak: Poetry of Voice and Becoming Voix / Voices

Rooted in one language. Reaching through another. Growing in both.Where French Roots Grow and English Leaves Flourish is a unique literary trilogy that traces the journey of Francophone students as they discover and develop their voices across two languages. From childhood through adolescence, these young writers grew through years of learning, creativity, and self-expression. Coming from diverse Francophone backgrounds, they and their families chose to nurture their connection to language, culture, and community while embracing the opportunities of bilingualism.Guided by one teacher from Grade 3 to Grade 12, this collection offers a rare glimpse into years of growth, imagination, and discovery. Across three volumes-Poetry, Narrative, and Shakespearean Writing-authentic student voices explore emotion, storytelling, and literature through their own words and experiences.More than a collection of student writing, this trilogy is a celebration of creativity, resilience, and the enduring strength of roots that continue to grow while reaching outward.
