Where the Bears Keep Secrets: A Blackwood Ridge Novel Paranormal Women's Fiction

She came to Blackwood Ridge to study wildlife. She never imagined the wildlife had been waiting for her.At fifty-two, wildlife biologist Dr. Mara Ellison is ready for a fresh start. A prestigious research fellowship in a remote Pacific Northwest mountain town offers everything she needs: ancient forests, elusive predators, and enough solitude to heal from the life she left behind. Instead, she discovers a place where ravens deliver opinions, foxes refuse to respect professional boundaries, and every resident seems to know a secret they're not quite ready to share. When Mara learns Blackwood Ridge is a hidden sanctuary for shifters, her lifelong ability to understand animals suddenly makes impossible sense. She isn't simply an accomplished scientist - she is the long-awaited Warden, a human guardian destined to protect the fragile balance between two worlds. The last person who believes she belongs in that role is Gideon Ash, the fiercely protective Alpha of the local bear clan. Gruff, loyal, and determined to keep her safe, Gideon insists she should never have come to the mountain. The more time they spend together, however, the harder it becomes to ignore the growing connection neither of them expected, especially as Mara begins to realize that the greatest discovery of her life isn't hidden in her research - it may be waiting in Gideon's steady heart. As outsiders close in on Blackwood Ridge and an ancient power hidden deep within the forest faces its greatest threat, Mara must decide whether to cling to the certainty of the life she once understood or embrace the extraordinary calling that has been waiting for her all along.
