We survived Hell Week, hitchhiked to AtlanticCity with an overnight stay along the side of the road, ROTC summer camp,attended a great many WVU football and basketball games, tailgated inMorgantown, Pittsburgh, and before many football bowl games. We wereoften found together at Gene's beer garden. Bill encouraged me to write andpublish my first book, which took 17 years to complete (the next three onlytook a total of 6 years). Bill led a full, productive and interesting life, withmany fascinating stories to tell. When he asked me about writing a book of hismemoirs, I strongly encouraged him to document his life for family, friendsand those interested in learning about life's events in the past 83 years.
