Bol Mayla Charles's an anxiety-ridden Lowblood with a pitiful amount of healing magic, living life as anafterthought in the modern city of Miradea. A place where Highbloods, with their more concentrated faeblood and superior magics are treasured. A place where Lowbloods like her, with their stronger humanblood and weaker magics are mostly ignored. She spend her days processing insurance claims, avoidingcrowds, and trying to forget how jealous she is that she wasn't born one of them. She has a cat, a slightlyunhealthy latte addiction, no romantic prospects whatsoever, and a grand total of three goodfriends. But when one of those friends suddenly goes missing, Mayla is forced to set her anxiety aside and golooking for help. She finds herself thrown together with the stoic, ice-wielding Highblood leader of theMiradea Task Force, Anton Tevaris, and she has absolutely no idea why she's so incessantly drawn tohim. When Lowblood like her are suddenly targeted, and bizarre mythical creatures start wreaking havoc intheir city, will Mayla discover her own immeasurable strength through her weakness? Will she finally facethe side and all powerful feeling that she and the icy captain were somehow fated to find each other?Join Mayla, Anton and a whole cast of eclectic characters as they work to save their city and fight adarkness stronger than any they could have ever imagined.A darkness they'll come to realize, is deeply rooted within one of their own.
