Who You Are Now: A Spain, Maine. Novel

Vivian Cross has spent a lifetime being the woman Spain, Maine knows how to need. Composed, capable, rooted, and reliable, Vivian has long embodied the town's old sense of itself: legacy, expectation, history, and carefully inherited belonging. Mae Larkin arrives with no patience for old hierarchies. A newcomer, entrepreneur, and unapologetic believer in what comes next, Mae wants to build a life in Spain without asking permission from its past. When a civic debate over the town's future throws Vivian and Mae into direct opposition, attraction arrives exactly where neither woman expects it: inside disagreement. Vivian thinks Mae is reckless. Mae thinks Vivian is hiding behind tradition. But as they work together to shape Spain's next chapter, both women begin to see what the other is really protecting. For Vivian, Mae becomes a mirror, a challenge, and a dangerous question: What if the version of herself everyone knows is not the only version available? For Mae, Spain becomes more than a fresh start. It becomes a place worth staying for-and Vivian becomes someone worth trusting with the future. Warm, emotional, and deeply rooted in found family, Who You Are Now is a later-in-life sapphic romance about legacy, reinvention, belonging, and the courage to stop performing the oldest version of yourself when a truer life is waiting.
