Why Some Theologians Still Laugh Jesus to Scorn

Why did the people at Jairus's house laugh Jesus to scorn when He said of the girl, "She is not dead but sleeping"? And are some theologians still making the same mistake today? In Why Some Theologians Still Laugh Jesus to Scorn, John Hultink challenges the common assumption that "sleep" in the New Testament is merely another word for death. Through the raising of Jairus's daughter, the raising of Lazarus, Jesus' words to the criminal on the cross, and Paul's teaching concerning those who have "fallen asleep in Christ," Hultink argues that Golgotha changed everything. This provocative four-book series invites readers to reconsider what Christ accomplished on the cross, what Scripture means by Paradise, and what it truly means for a believer to "fall asleep in Christ."Are we taking Jesus at His word-or still laughing Him to scorn?
