Bol This book highlights the material conditions of life for workers/students in basic education night classes. The study presents the conditions of work, study, leisure and rest, investigating the relationship between work and other social activities of workers/students. The empirical research was conducted with five schools that offer night classes in basic education in the municipality of Guarapuava-PR, involving a total of 544 students. The starting point was the understanding that the working hours of night-time workers/students determine and negatively influence the other times necessary for human existence and, therefore, make consistent education unfeasible for these individuals, who are unable to perform well, both due to the precariousness and intensity of their work and the fragility of night-time schooling. The book provides an opportunity to better understand the real individuals for whom educational discourses are constructed and who, in most cases, are detached from reality, thus deepening the discussion about the difficulties, limitations, motivations, and expectations of these agents who experience a double shift on a daily basis: daytime work and night-time study.
