Bol According to scientific statistics, mental health conditions such as burnout account for an ever-increasing proportion of days lost due to incapacity for work. Salutogenesis, as a holistic approach to workplace health management, can help counter this trend. In order not merely to treat costly periods of incapacity for work symptomatically, but to prevent them at source, large corporations are employing a variety of methods. But what is the situation in small and medium-sized enterprises? Are managers key figures in putting prevention into practice? This study examines these questions through a qualitative field study and investigates the attitudes and behaviour of managers in a medium-sized enterprise. The results highlight differences across various categories. Drawing on a review of the theoretical literature and the survey findings, the thesis describes action plans and tools designed to facilitate the straightforward integration of workplace health management into the corporate culture.
