Oscar Wilde figures as a major character but the author pays homage to some of his other favourite poets here as well: Ford Madox Ford, Ezra Pound, T. E. Hulme and Hope Mirrlees are the main ones. This book gives its readers a sense of the stones of the cities it is set in as well as the stones on the graves of the influences cited by the author.
